Zeely vs best-in-slot
Zeely will take your budget and run the campaign for you. best-in-slot hands the finished ad to your own ad account and never touches your money. Nine differences, checked against Zeely's own help centre.
How this was put together
We make best-in-slot, and best-in-slot is one of the options here — so read this the way you would read any comparison written by one of the sides. What we can do about that is show our working: every claim about Zeely is footnoted to the public page it came from — pricing, docs, help centre — all read on August 18, 2026, and quoted rather than characterised wherever the wording matters. Where we could not verify something, the page says so instead of guessing.
Zeely is a real product aimed at a different job, and there is a row below where it plainly beats us. If we have a detail wrong or stale — including if you work there — [email protected] and it gets fixed.
Zeely, in their words
“Create, launch and scale winning ads with AI. Manage your full performance marketing cycle with AI strategies shaped by top marketing experts.”1
best-in-slot, in ours
“Ads in a click. Instagram on autopilot.”
These two products answer the same question — “I sell something, I have no designer, what do I run on Meta?” — and then diverge at the single decision that matters more than any feature: whose ad account the money goes through.
Zeely's default path runs your campaign on Zeely's Meta partner account. You pay the ad budget at their checkout, their team reviews the ad before Meta does, and they charge 12% of the spend for it. That is a real product, not a workaround: it removes Business Manager, ad-account verification and payment setup, which is the wall most first-time advertisers actually hit. It also means the ads are not in your account, and the meter runs on every dollar.
best-in-slot never sees your budget. It publishes one ad into an ad set you already have, in your own Meta account, paused, and then gets out of the way. That assumes you have an ad account — or are willing to make one — and it assumes you want to be the person who decides what goes live.
The second divergence is format. Zeely is a video product with a static side: AI avatars, talking heads, animated product stills. best-in-slot makes still images and nothing else. If your plan is UGC-style video, the rest of this page is academic, and you should buy Zeely.
The nine differences
Numbered markers link to the Zeely page each claim came from. Everything in the best-in-slot column is what the product does today — the same figures the pricing page and the FAQ are built from.
| The difference | Zeely | best-in-slot |
|---|---|---|
| What you have to typeIs a prompt or a brief required before you get anything? | A product URL gets you started, but not to an ad. Zeely's own getting-started article says “Everything you create in Zeely starts with a product or service” and asks for a product name, a short description and a few photos; the import fills part of that in, and you fix the rest, set the product type and choose the target audience yourself. A written description is optional at generation time.3,4,5 | A link. It reads your site, writes the business summary and the audience profiles, and pulls your colours off the page — then shows you all of it on one review screen where you can edit anything, and saves nothing until you say so. There is no prompt field anywhere in the generation flow. |
| Neither tool makes you write a prompt to get an ad, which is more than most of this category can say. The difference is what you have to supply after the scrape: Zeely asks you to name the audience, best-in-slot proposes them and lets you argue. | ||
| Website understandingDoes it read your site, and what does it keep from it? | The import reads a product page and takes the name, the images and the price into a “product card”. Brand colours, fonts, tone and values are a separate form — Brand DNA — which Zeely can pre-fill from the same link. Marketplace imports (Amazon, Etsy, Instagram, Facebook) skip colours entirely.4,13 | It maps your site, picks the pages worth reading, and writes one business summary from all of them, plus a set of audience profiles and what each one needs. Colours and a one-line identity come from screenshots of your own pages. Products are yours to add, with your own photos. |
| A product-page scrape is the right tool for a product listing and the wrong one for a service business, where the thing being sold is spread across five pages and a pricing table. | ||
| Concept, image and copyDoes one run produce an argument, a picture and the words? | You pick between two and ten reference ads from Zeely's curated library and it makes one ad per reference — the strategy is the reference you chose — or you skip that step and let the AI pick a style. Copy is generated and editable in the AI image path; in the template path you type the copy yourself and can ask AI to polish it. Its own pre-launch checklist asks for at least five creatives, “ideally 7–10”, and warns against ten versions of one image.5,6,7 | Three concepts a run, each a hook plus a big idea, drawn against an angle you pick from 117 of them in 10 families — or none, and it picks. Then the image, in one of 66 visual styles. Then up to five primary texts, five headlines and a description, written off the image it has just drawn. |
| Static or videoWhat shapes come out, and for which placements?Their edge | Video is the centre of the product: AI avatar and UGC-style presenters, 30-second talking heads, animated product stills, and trend clones that swap the person for an avatar. Its Playground documents 10-second clips at 720p–1080p and 150+ stock avatars, with a custom avatar buildable from a selfie. Static image ads exist alongside it.8,9,10,19 | Still images. One hero image re-framed into all four Meta shapes — 1080×1080, 1080×1350, 1080×1920 and 1200×628 — each re-rendered rather than cropped, so the layout survives the change of shape. No video, no animation, none planned. |
| This is the row where Zeely wins outright, and it is not close. If short-form video with a presenter is the format you need, no amount of the rest of this table should change your mind. | ||
| Editing controlWhat can you change after it has generated?Much the same | Text blocks are directly editable and the logo gets real controls — a placement grid, a size slider, opacity, and a toggle. Everything else is a re-prompt: describe the change you want to the background, colours, style or composition and regenerate. That is cheap by design — their docs say text-only edits are “completely free” and an image ad gets “up to five edits at no additional cost” before credits are spent. Video is configured before it renders; afterwards the documented actions are regenerate, download, share and delete.9,11,12 | Tell it what to change about an image in a sentence and it re-renders that image for 3 credits, keeping the original — every time, with no free allowance. Generate as many takes in as many styles as you like and pick one. Every line of copy is editable by hand, and free. There is no canvas, no layers, no text tool. |
| Neither of these is a design tool, and both of us should say so. If the job is nudging a headline four pixels left, the answer on this page is Canva. On price of iteration they are ahead of us: their first five image edits cost nothing, ours cost credits every time. | ||
| Getting it into the ad accountDoes the finished ad reach Ads Manager, or a download folder?Different jobs | Two modes. The default runs the campaign on Zeely's own Meta partner account: you pay the budget at their checkout, their team reviews the ad within 1–12 hours before Meta's own review, and the service fee is stated in the help centre as 12% of ad spend — 6% with the annual Booster add-on, though their pricing page hedges it as “up to 12%”. The second mode connects your own Meta account, charges no fee, and asks for access to all current and future Pages and businesses. Either way Zeely builds the campaign: objective, location, audience, budget. Paid campaigns are Meta only; TikTok and Instagram are organic posting, and everything else is a download.14,15,16,17,20 | One ad, inside an ad set you already made, in your own account, paused by default — it never creates campaigns or ad sets, never edits your other ads, and never touches your budget. The ad carries all four shapes and every copy line as one multi-asset creative, with each shape routed to the placements it fits, and it inherits the page, Instagram account, destination and CTA from the ads already in that set. |
| 12% is the number to think about. On $500 a month it is $60 — cheap for skipping Business Manager entirely. On $5,000 it is $600 a month to avoid a setup form you fill in once. | ||
| Brand controlsHow does it know your logo, colours and voice — and how many brands?Their edge | Brand DNA is a proper kit: logo, colours with defined roles, fonts, an overview, values, a tagline, tone and style — auto-fillable from your link, and each element can be toggled on or off before a generation. Zeely publishes no workspace, seat or team model anywhere in its help centre, and its pricing page lists no brand caps.2,13 | Colours with roles, a one-line identity, the business summary, the audiences and your products — all editable, all fed into every generation as context. Your uploaded logo goes to the image model as a reference to reproduce, not as a layer pasted on top. Brands are explicit and capped: one on the smaller plans, five on Growth, ten on Agency. |
| Zeely captures fonts and a tagline; we do not capture fonts at all, and the logo is drawn by the image model from a reference rather than composited, so it is faithful rather than pixel-exact. The trade runs the other way on multi-brand: we publish the caps, they document no team model at all. | ||
| Pricing and limitsWhat does a month cost, and what does that buy in finished ads? | $29.95, $49.95 or $79.95 a month for 2,500, 5,000 or 10,000 credits — the three tiers carry the same feature list and differ only in credits. What a credit buys is not published: the help centre says the cost of each action is shown in-app on the button before you start. The App Store lists a different ladder of purchases again, which their own FAQ acknowledges — “The plans available in the app and on the website may vary”. Then 12% of ad spend on top, if you launch through their account.2,16,18,21 | $19–$169 a month. 10 credits for a finished ad, and every other action's price is on the pricing page — concepts 1, an image 3, the four sizes 6, copy 2. 50 credits free at signup, about 5 ads, no card. Failed generations refund automatically. No seats, and no cut of ad spend at any level. |
| Both meters are credits. The difference is that one of them publishes the exchange rate — and that the other one has two price lists, which it says so itself. | ||
| Who it fitsWho is genuinely better off with this one?Different jobs | A solo seller with a live product page, a phone, no Business Manager and no designer, who wants UGC-style video and would rather pay a percentage than learn Ads Manager. Zeely describes its audience as small businesses and online sellers, its launch guide recommends a minimum of $10 a day in budget, and the whole product is built for that person.1,14,20 | Someone who already runs — or is ready to run — their own Meta ad account, wants a steady supply of finished statics without briefing anyone, and wants to be the one who decides what goes live. Agencies and multi-brand operators, on the plans that carry five or ten brand slots. |
Our side of the table in full: every credit price, what happens in your Meta account, and the rules we wrote about comparison ads — which is why there is a row above where Zeely wins.
Stay with Zeely if…
You do not have a Meta ad account and do not want one. Zeely's partner-account path is the only thing in this comparison that removes Business Manager, ad-account verification and payment setup outright — you pick a budget, pay at their checkout, and a human at Zeely reviews the ad before Meta does. If it is rejected at that stage, the docs say the payment is refunded. For a first advertiser, that is worth more than any feature on this page, and 12% is a fair price for it.
Or you want video. Avatars, talking heads, trend clones, animated product shots — best-in-slot makes none of it, and there is no video feature hiding behind a toggle. A phone-only workflow is genuinely theirs too: Zeely runs on iOS and Android as a first-class surface, and we are a website.
Try best-in-slot if…
The ads should be in your account, under your business, with your pixel and your history — because that history is the asset, and it does not travel. Everything best-in-slot publishes lands in an ad set you picked, paused, with a link to review it in Ads Manager. Nothing goes live because a queue moved.
And you would rather not choose the creative direction every time. Zeely's documented flow makes one ad per reference you select; best-in-slot argues first — three concepts against an angle, from a library of 117 — and only then draws. If your product needs a comparison ad this week and a risk-reversal ad next week, that difference is the whole job.
Then the arithmetic. A finished ad is 10 credits, the plans run $19–$169, and none of it scales with what you spend on Meta. The 12% is the number that grows quietly.
What changes if you move across
You will need a Meta ad account and one campaign with an ad set in it. best-in-slot publishes into an existing ad set on purpose — it never creates campaigns or ad sets — so the targeting, the budget and the schedule stay decisions you made in Ads Manager. If the ad set already holds an ad, the new one inherits its page, Instagram account, destination URL and call-to-action automatically.
Your product photos come with you and are worth uploading: they are handed to the image model as high-fidelity references, so the thing in the ad is your actual product rather than something the model imagined near it. Your logo is one upload in settings.
What does not come across is video. If part of your current mix is avatar or talking-head creative, that stays with Zeely or moves to another video tool — the two are not mutually exclusive, and running statics from one and video from the other is a normal way to end up.
Zeely vs best-in-slot: common questions
Does Zeely run ads on my own Meta account?
It can. Zeely documents two modes: the default runs the campaign on Zeely's own Meta partner account with a 12% service fee on ad spend, and a second mode connects your own Meta account with no Zeely fee, requesting access to all current and future Pages and businesses. best-in-slot only ever works in your own account, and takes no percentage of spend in any case.
Can best-in-slot make video ads like Zeely's avatars?
No. best-in-slot generates still images only — one hero image re-framed into the four Meta shapes — and there is no video, animation or avatar feature. If your campaign needs UGC-style video, Zeely does something best-in-slot does not do at all.
What does Zeely's 12% actually apply to?
Zeely's help centre describes it as a service fee of 12% of ad spend on paid campaigns launched through Meta using their partner account, halved to 6% with the annual Booster add-on. Ads launched through your own connected Meta account carry no Zeely fee. Read it as a percentage of media, not of the subscription.
Which one is cheaper?
It depends entirely on ad spend, which is why the subscription prices are the wrong comparison. Zeely's web plans are $29.95–$79.95 a month — its app lists a different set, which its own FAQ warns about — against best-in-slot at $19–$169, with a finished ad costing 10 credits and every action's cost published. Then add 12% of your monthly ad budget to Zeely if you launch through their account, and nothing to best-in-slot, ever.
Do best-in-slot's ads go live automatically?
No — they are created paused by default, and going live is an explicit opt-in at publish time. The ad lands in the ad set you chose with a direct link to review it in Ads Manager, and no budget moves until you switch it on there.
